A journey by Train

Introduction: In modern days man remains preoccupied with his daily activities and worldly affairs. He has no time to enjoy the beauty of nature and refresh himself. But the journey by train may serve him well if he wants to escape the monotonous urban life and pass the time in the midst of natural beauty.

Time and occasion: My annual examination got over. I had recess for some days. During this time of the year the weather is good enough to make a journey. Incidentally I, with some of my friends took a sudden decision to go my sister’s house in Chittagong by train. Accordingly, on the appointed day we reached Kamalapur railway station by taxi before sunrise. We bought our tickets and got into the train. The guard blew the whistle, waved his green flag and the train began to move.

Description of the journey: The train began running at a full speed. I am fond of scenic beauty from the very beginning of my life. I, keeping myself aloof, sat beside a window and looked outside through it. The sun was rising with all its splendid beauty. Dew drops on the soft grass of meadows were glittering like pearls. I enjoyed these scenes and sights with a joyful mind. By this time the train was moving through rural areas. I gazed and gazed at the house, trees, meadows with golden crops and other panoramic view with a cheerful mind. Things came to my vision and disappeared in the twinkle of an eye.

My mind was full of joy. I looked and looked through the window. Everything seemed running swiftly to opposite direction. The train ran at full speed. Now and then it crossed a bridge over a river with a chattering noise. As it was an express train, it touched only at a few big stations. At about noon when the train entered the Chittagong district I felt great joy seeing the hills on either side of the line as I had not seen a hill before. After eight hours journey at last our train reached Chittagong railway station at about 1 p.m. We got down from the train and went to my sister’s house by taxi. Our return journey was equally pleasant one.

Conclusion: The pleasant and enjoyable journey lasted for a few hours. Despite that the journey left a permanent impression in my mind. I never forget the sweet memory of this journey. The scene of the memorable journey peeps into my mind in the moment of solitude when I become tired of the mechanical urban life.

My First Train Journey
My First Train Journey
I experienced my first train journey just last year when my parents took us all to Penang for a holiday. We arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station at 7.00 a.m. to catch the 7.30 express train to Butterworth. Crowds had started gathering at the ticketing counter to buy tickets and there were long queues. Fortunately, we had bought our tickets two days earlier, so we went straight to the platform. There, we waited for the train and saw many people rushing to the platform. Children were running about happily. We quickly bought some magazines, mints and chocolates. The train finally arrived and we scrambled into our coach to get to our seats. I was lucky to get a good seat near the window. At last, the guard blew the whistle and the train moved slowly and pulled out of the station. I felt thrilled at that very moment and I enjoyed the jerky movement and the new experience.
There were friendly passengers all around and soon we started talking and joking among ourselves. The scenery outside was interesting and varied. Trees, bushes, rice-fields and farmers' huts flashed past us and we were greeted by village children waving and smiling at us happily. I also saw vegetable farms with rows and rows of long beans, chilies and brinjals.
After about three hours, I felt sleepy and dozed off in spite of the rattling sound of the wheels. Suddenly, there was a jerk and the train came to a halt. The engines hissed and the brakes squeaked. I woke up with a start and looked out of the window. We had reached a station. Three minutes later, the train started moving again and accelerated gradually until it was traveling at a constant speed. I spent the rest of the journey reading as the initial excitement had gone.
Finally, the train jerked to a complete stop. We had at last reached our destination. We disembarked and walked a short distance to board the ferry to the island of Penang. It had been a very pleasant journey, one I could look forward to on our return to Kuala Lumpur.

A Journey by Train

A journey is a pleasure to me. I like train journey the most. It gives me much pleasure.
Last week I made a train journey. I went to Chittagong with my parents. Early in the morning we went to the Kamlapur Railway Station. We bought our tickets. Then we got into the train. I sat beside a window.
After a few minutes, the train blew its whistle. Then it began to move. At first it moved very slowly. After sometimes, it began to move in full speed. I looked outside. There were green fields on both sides.
Farmers were working there. Cattle were grazing here and there. I enjoyed all the scenery. My Parents passed their time by reading a newspaper. They also slept for sometimes. But I was awake all the way.
At last we reached Chittagong at 3 pm. The journey came to an end. I enjoyed the journey very much, I will never forget the journey.

A Journey by Train

Journey is always fascinating. It charms our mind and makes us happy. Journey is a relief in our monotonous everyday life. After a journey we feel relaxed and fresh. It also fills our heart with peace. During the last winter vacation, I got an opportunity to make a journey by train with my family members from Dhaka to Rajshahi. My uncle lives there. We generally go to Rajshahi by bus. But that time my father decided to go there by train.

It was 11 December, 2010. We got up early in the morning, took preparation and got on two rickshaws. It took almost half an hour to reach Kamlapur Railway Station.

My father bought four tickets from the ticket counter for the 'Ekota Express'. We got into the train and found our seats beside the window. Within a few minutes, the guard blew his whistle and waved his green flag and the train started to move slowly at about 7.30 am. The train left the platform and gradually it attained speed. The window was opened and I could see outside easily. The train was moving at a great speed and there was a great jerking. The village women were seen carrying pitchers of water, farmers were seen working in the fields and young boys and girls were shivering in cold. All these left a permanent impression on my mind.

As it was an intercity train, it did not stop in many stations and was not very crowded. When it was crossing small stations, it seemed speedier. There were a few hawkers selling boiled eggs, chanachur and betel leaf and fried ground nut. We had our breakfast with bread and boiled eggs. Later an attendant was ordered to bring tea.

The time passed by. During the journey, my father showed me the Indian boarder at hilly station. I was enjoying everything around me. In this way we passed ten hours and at last reached Raajshahi. My uncle was waiting for us with a car. After coming out of the station, it took only ten minutes to reach my uncle’s house. We were greeted cordially.

Thus the train journey came to an end. Though I made the journey last year, the memory of it is ever fresh in my mind.

Many passengers were talking of many matters of their own life. Some of them talked about our national politics. In my compartment, the young man sitting at may lift side wanted to know about my journey and me. I told him and he told of his own self.
